Rafael and Julia Lucero

The sunset is what sold me. All four of them just sat down, cross legged on my balcony, and stared out over the park. There they were - with their DUFFY agent Michael, respectfully silent, just absorbing that one moment - and I knew then that I was theirs. When Julia grabbed her boys by the hand and all of them went skipping to what is now Luis and David's room, I giggled.

look!

it's me!

look!

it's me!

the sunset

is what

sold me

And sure enough, the next day after a quick stop at the Piedmont Park swings just across the road from me, father Rafael and the boys were back deciding what new theme their room was going to be - a circus, carnival or a jungle. I prayed for the carnival and sure enough, that is what they decided! Never in all my years has there been so much excitement in my four walls. The finger painting, the stories of far off places and new found favorites, the latest picture of new adventures - why, it is almost like I was young again! What a joy to be lived in and to be loved again.

I found out Raf met Julia at Georgia Tech his sophomore year and her freshman. Before you knew it they were inseparable and have remained that way ever since, as I can attest! The flowers he brings her brighten every room of me. After they married they loved traveling the world. Traveling, exploring and experiencing everything around them is what they most want out of life.

A passion that they have passed on to Luis and David. One day they are all here in my custom kitchen having Julia's usual Friday breakfast of french toast, the next day, they are packed up and saying goodbye, and Voila! having crepes in Paris. Or a weekend skiing in Colorado? Perfect! A trip to Savannah to try a trendy restaurant? Sure! Nothing is out of reach for my family, the Luceros!

I just know they will always come back to the park swings across the street, the city where they first met, and me, their home sweet home.

THE

END.
